  1. Who is Paula Wilcox?
    Paula Wilcox is a British actress of stage, silver screen, television and radio. She is also what is known as a 'Britcom Babe', and is quite possibly the original Britcom Babe! She was born in 1950 in Manchester, England.
  2. How did Paula Wilcox begin her career?
    Paula's career began as a student of the National Youth Theatre, which she attended in the 1960s. This led to a part in the Granada television series The Dustbin Men, followed by a high profile role as 'Beryl Battersby' in The Lovers.

    This is probably Paula's most famous television comedy work, and co-starred actors Richard O'Sullivan, Sally Thomsett, Yootha Joyce and Brian Murphy. When student Robin Tripp is forced to share a flat with modern girls Chrissy and Jo, there's no end to the comic situations that arise!

    Yes, sort of. Paula did not appear in any of the televised episodes, but she did play the role of Soolin when the show was recently dramatised on BBC radio.

    Paula Wilcox is a very experienced stage actress with a career spanning four decades. Therefore, it will only be possible to present a brief selection of her many theatre performances. These have included: Romeo and Juliet, The Cherry Orchard, The Birthday Party, Heartbreak House, Time And The Conways, Pygmalion, Hedda Gabler, Bedroom Farce, Blithe Spirit, and See How They Run. Paula's performance in Blithe Spirit took her as far afield as Australia, the Middle East and the Far East.

    The Queen's Nose was a BBC children's television programme made in 1995. It was based on the book of the same name, written by [the man that wrote The Sheep Pig / Babe]. In the show, Paula played the part of Mrs Parker (the mother of Harmony, the story's heroine). The show has been repeated on Children's BBC at least twice.
