Grampian Television Continuity Announcers

Until recently, Grampian Television was one of the few remaining ITV companies that made use of in-vision continuity announcers. Sadly, an era came to an end when continuity was recently taken over by STV in Glasgow. This page fondly remembers Grampian's final team of announcers, the Class of '98.

Scottish Media Group (parent company of Scottish Television, and of Grampian Television since its acquisition in 1997) announced on 30th April 1998 that it would be restructuring its broadcasting division resulting in a net loss of nineteen jobs at Grampian Television. By the time of this announcement, ten employees at Grampian had already been accepted for voluntary redundancy.

The announcers you see on this page have now been replaced by an on-screen station ident, with the voiced announcement often sourced from Glasgow.
